day#2- Geni in Wonderland

Today's plan: get to the South Ferry on the South corner of Manhattan to Staten Island. Thanks to the boat trip we can get close to the Liberty Island and take a look at the statue without a stop( for free).
But till the port is a long way through Little Italy, Chinatown, and the Financial Quarter, with Wall Str...
From our place ( Midtown East 50th Str) is about 8 km on foot. Long walk but worth to do it like that way. I wouldn't miss these parts of Manhattan. Actually I'm  more interested in these parts... ;-)

Despite of few Italian restaurants it seemed that Little Italy is `under authority` of Chinatown or what, as I couldn't notice any border between the 2 Worlds. But it looked like Chinatown rulez. Very busy part, streets are crowded, mostly Chinese ppl, not so many tourists, some parts are neglected.

Day#1- Top of the Rock

Arrived to the flat I took a long shower and went to take a nap..I woke up on the next morning!I didn't want to was to waste my time but it was worthy.the next day my first walk was to the Rockefeller Center,it was close,10min on foot.Staring the gorgeous skyscrapers built in art-deco style I imagined there the huge shiny xmas tree and the people around.in the middle stands the GE building.its Still early morning,7.30,so the streets are peaceful. But I'm getting hungry!time for breakfast!we got some omelet with ham n bacon in the store around the corner, the portion is fairly enough for 2person,American size,or what?there were few tables in the shop to sit n eat,the rest was packed with many kind of stuff.the radio played old hits like 'walkin on sunshine'.Cost of the queen-size breakfast,coffee,0,5l water was 8$.still no crowd on the street but more n more ppl.one of the top attractions nearby was the observation deck of the 30 Rockefeller plaza.the queue was not long to the top, security check, ticket control, about 20 Min in total.good to be there in time!the elevator fly you up to 67 floor high in 30sec!!the view on the top is priceless!!I think this is the best introduction of the city.walk around the deck you can see what New York can offer you!one side the gorgeous view to the central park,a regular rectangular shape green oasis in the jungle of the skyscrapers, on the other side the Empire States Building and many more!time to wake up,good morning NEW YORK!!

 Take a breath!
After this sensation we were just hanging around the center, took a long walk till the green oasis of the city, the South-West corner of the Central Park. Sitting on a rock and staring the people, breathing the air of the oak.
This is the garden of the public, here people comes to disconnect from the concrete jungle around or just stop for a moment with the daily rush, on many kind of way: playing baseball, watching the game from the grandstands, lying on a blanket, climbing the trees, feeding the squirrels, jogging, reading a book, flying a kite or just simply enjoying the sunbeams. There is a Zoo in the park, boating lakes, fountains, softball pitches (kind of baseball, but here the ball is bigger, and the filed is smaller, than in baseball), rocks, pavement for walking.
So I enjoyed spending some time here in peace, observing others, and the huge buildings facing to the park.

TimeMachineRockinCafe ;)

After taking a 2-hrs nap we took the direction to the Broadway and the Time Square...
So yes, the place is really busy, noisy, crowded with people, colorful of the lightening billboards... but actually gorgeous! In the middle of the square is a ticket office ( TKTS) where you can get a day-of-show ticket for a Broadway event even on a 50% discount. There was a long queue so we moved on...till the next corner where we discovered the legendary Hard Rock Cafe!!! A huge electric guitar billboard was spinning around on the top of the place, welcoming people. Lets go inside and check out!
Right after the entrance is a gift shop with souvenirs, stairs are down to the bar and the restaurant. The place is really stylish, gives place to live rock concerts or other events, and to increase the sensation of the rock n roll feeling you can find here collection of instruments, stage costumes from the Beatles, and guitars of many legendary rock stars around the wall. My personal favorite was the guitar of Kurt Cobain... was crashed on a gig ;-)  Of course I was sitting right under this at the bar and asked for a Bud in memory of Kurt.

Just landed

So from Poland to Vienna it took 14hrs with waiting Time in Katowice..the bus trip was about 8hrs long.I arrived on the early morning. To Schwechat Airport I used the subway(u-Bahn) 2 times and the train(s-Bahn) once.Cost:4€(with the train called CAT its 20€!!).The check-in was smooth,as the flight too.Duration 7,5 Hrs long,I couldn't sleep an hr,but besides this the Time went pretty fast, the cabin crew took care of it with serving food, refreshers, drinks during the flight.but the Last Hrs were the Most critical for me...I couldn't wait to See the 'New World',I started to loose my patience,I was so excited!!but still couldn't get used to the fact wie took more than 10k km,crossing the north atlantic Ocean,on 11k meters hight, with the speed 900km/Hr...actually almost the one quarter of the Globe!! When we reached the continent wie started the landing,it was soft.at the JFK national Airport we had to stand in the Queue about 40Min for the Security Check.passport,fingerprint-Check,questions about my intension to visit the States...well-organised System,it seemed like that.so many kind of ppl!so After 25hrs on the way from Poland I was getting really tired and just wandten to get to the place.By the Airtrain from Terminal1 wie had to go to Jamaica station, from there by the subway E till the part of Manhattan where the flat was. Travelling on the metro observing ppl I had to admit that is the reality, Im in the USA, and it is not different a lot from the picture we get from the tv,News, and Movies.ppl are so diverse, mixture of many Nations and races..Not really care of what they have around,Most of them listening Music or busy with them Iphones, but don't even watch on each other...Hmm...weard a Bit this distance but understandable.the audience of the subway is changing getting closer to Manhattan.guess why...more tourists, less local from the suburbs of NYC. After about 30min arrived to Lexington Avenue. At that point when I saw first time those gian skycrapers I realised where I am, this is New York City, the capital of the World!!one thing came up to my mind, America is whatever you want! The sensation I felt was uncredible, moving and unique!and still couldnt wake up from this dream..but I think dont want at all yet;)

The start is around the corner...

Ready or not ,here I come... so suitcase has packed. Tomorrow right after work I have to get to Katowice, from there I have bus to Vienna. I will arrive there on the early morning so I will have  luckily enough time to find the airport. Flight departure: 5th May, 10:40am, arrival: 13:55pm to the John F. Kennedy Airport, in New York. 14 days to discover New York City, Washington, and drive down the east coast till Miami.
Close to 10 hrs the duration, hmm, hope I can get some sleep on the plane... in case I have some magic pills called Valerin, nothing bad, don't worry ;-) 100% natural.
So how do I feel now? Excited! Hungry for new adventures, new experiences.. but still not ready for that all is ahead! How can I be ready for such sensation?! Crossing the  North Atlantic Ocean and land on the other side of the globe... Hmm, maybe is it the meaning of L.I.F.E? Getting as further as you can?Keep crossed your fingers pls! Beyond the sky is the limit! :-)
